Tonya is our Head Technician. She has worked at animal clinics her whole life and has been at AMC since 2001. She manages the Barking Lot portion of AMC and is invaluable in surgery and all aspects of technical care and is currently attending school to become a License Vet Tech. When Tonya isn't at work she spends time with her family, friends and fur babies. She loves her pets Keegan, Emery and Quinn.
Angie has been a receptionist at Animal Medical Center since 1999. She has a great eye for details and hustles to make sure our clients and their pets are seen in a timely efficient manner. She is from Danville, the daughter of Philip and Linda Hudgins. She has been married to her husband Ricky for 10 years . In addition to her human family, she has two dogs named Rocky and Yukon and a cat named Kitty Boo. Angie loves spending time with her nieces and nephew, skating, dancing and going to the mountains.
Melissa works in our grooming department as an assistant groomer. She started working at AMC in 2012 as a bather/brusher. She gives each dog and cat her own special touch while they are having their spa day. Since the very beginning Melissa has worked hard to learn and understand our grooming techniques. She is now able to help with the haircuts and combouts. Melissa's household includes her son Conner and 2 dogs named Sadie and Buttons.
Linda has been our groomer at AMC since 1981. She has shown and bred Brussels Griffons and Poodles in the past although her crew is now enjoying retirement. You might find her riding her horse on Sunday afternoon if it's not raining. She shares a home in White Oak Mountain with a dog, 3 cats, a horse and a donkey.
Lisa is our Practice Manager and has been with us for 23 years. She handles all the behind the scenes action here at AMC. She has 2 children named Evan and Cara. Her furry companion is a Shih tzu named Bell and golden retriever named Riley. Lisa loves to travel and spend time with her family and husband named Dee.
Liz is our token Brit (english accent complimentary) and moved here from Arizona to join our AMC family in 1994. She works as a technician assisting the doctors, provides nursing care to our hospitalized patients and also manages the clinic's inventory and any special orders for our clients when needed.
Liz has two sons living in Tucson and Atlanta and she now lives with her partner Steve and her other two "boys",cats Jack and Denny, in Ringgold.
Wendy graduated with an AAS degree in Veterinary Technology. In 2004, after passing her National Veterinary Technology Board, Wendy was licensed and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to work as the only vet tech for the Little Rock Zoo. She was at the zoo for three and a half years before deciding to move back to Virginia to be closer to her family and friends. Wendy started her adventures at Animal Medical Center as a volunteer while in high school and since then Wendy as been with AMC in one capacity or another off and on for many years; but she feels that AMC has always been her true home from the beginning. Wendy is our resident expert on raising all kinds of orphaned babies, majoring in kittens; and also specializes in Schnauzer "whispering". She and her husband live in Danville with their St. Bernard Maggie, Rough Collie Murray, Miniature Schnauzer Oskar, and five cats; Callie, Tristan, Bobby, Stuart and Nicodemus.
Emily started AMC in September 2014 in The Barking Lot. She has been a great asset to our team and has joined our back staff with kennel and technician work as well as working with the fun loving dogs in The Barking Lot. She stays busy with working here, owning her own business Whispering Oaks and working on her farm. She has a love for goats and many other animals.
Mandi Merricks
Mand is our team leader over the front staff and she has been with the company since 2000. She is married with four children, two dogs, two cats and many fish. She loves being involved at her church and with community activities.
Cesily works with us in the Barking Lot and in the kennel. She was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan and moved to North Carolina in 2006. She graduated High School with a 4.0 GPA in 2008, while also working at the local animal shelter part-time. Cesily is a local artist, and has painted most of the art hanging in AMC's hallways.
Cesily loves ALL types of animals, including the "creepy" and the "crawly". She is currently owned by her 8 year old son, Hayden, her 2 year old son, Logan, her 2 dogs, Zodiac and Burger, and her one eared cat, Bambi. (She is also known as the local snake wrangler, considering that she lives with 6 pet snakes) Her animals are all rescues, and the dogs are known for stealing the bed, and playing tug-of-war with her sons.
Brianna D'Angelo
Brianna is a graduate of Liberty University and she has her bachelors in Zoo and Wildlife Biology. She currently works full time as a receptionist here at the clinic. Originally from Connecticut she has a love for traveling, crafting and cooking. She spends her time at home with her boyfriend, 4 cats, 2 dogs, a bunny and 2 hedgehogs.
Maddie Ware
Maddie has been with AMC since June 2019. She has always loved working with and around animals and is currently attending Averett University majoring in Pre Veterinarian Science. Her goal is to transfer to Virginia Tech and get accepted into their Veterinarian Program. She lives with her boyfriend Patrik whom she has known for 13 years. Also living with her is their fur babies Aspen Willow and Dakota. Maddie loves being outdoors and her favorite place to travel is Carolina Beach in the summer and the mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee in the fall and winter.
Cheyenne Davis
Cheyenne works with us in the Barking Lot and the kennel. She is originally from North Carolina and has 7 siblings. She is our expert photographer and puts those skills to work by posting many great photos of our doggy daycare crew and boarding pets. Her hobbies also include painting and just being with the dogs.
Brittany Sain
Brittney has been in the veterinary field since 2016. She graduated from Chatham High School and while in school she took classes in animal care. She then went on to PHCC in 2015 and received her vet assistant certificate. When she is not working at AMC she helps out at our sister clinic, Brosville Animal Clinic. With what little time she has left not working she loves to spend time with her own cats and dogs.
Lauren Meehan
Lauren started out in our doggy day care and kennel area. She proved herself to be an all around asset and moved upfront to be a receptionist so she can continue to be around dogs and cats while also helping the community keep their pets in healthy conditions. She is a recent graduate from Averett University earning her bachelor of science degree. She plans on attending school again for dental hygiene. She and her boyfriend recently got a golden retriever so they can enjoy taking her to new places with them. In her free time she enjoys playing with all six of her dogs and two cats. She also enjoys going to the Danville's Riverwalk, horseback riding, trying new places to eat and shopping with her mom.
Stacey Markle
Stacy started at AMC in the spring of 2018. She is a graduate from Suny Morrisville with her equestrian science in management degree. Stacy lives with her husband Matt and their cat Jasmine. In her free time she likes to be at the beach and go camping.
